My Trip to Socorro, NM

Well--, I was suppose to finish working at NSF on Sept. 12, 2001. But there were some disturbances in DC about that time (my apartment was 2 blocks from the Pentagon). So Roger (Simkin) drove our 1991 Toyota pickup to DC from Michigan. We rented a U-Haul, loaded up my furniture, drove to North Carolina. There we picked up a 13 ft "SCAMP" trailer I bought on e-Bay. We transfered the furniture to it, and headed West on I40 to New Mexico. The SCAMP is shown on the right - in front of the self-storage place where we dumped the furniture.

On the left - 0.25 miles from the VLA HQ - is the place where the furniture will go when we finish building a house.
